Adria Mobil goes to Cyprus for the first race of the season

Almost all cyclists of the team were in Turkey for two weeks. Temperatures and conditions in and around Antalya are perfect for winter training and everybody is really happy with the outcome of these last preparations for the race season. After the long winter all of them are really eager to race again!

International Tour Of North Cyprus will take place from 9th till 11th February and will feature three stages – two classical stages with some climbing and criterium race on the last day. After the race team will come back home and get ready for the spring classics in Istria.

Take a look what our riders think about the race and what they want to do in the upcoming weekend. New Sports Director Srečko Glivar also explains why you will not find this race on the UCI program.

Radoslav Rogina: “Weather served us perfectly in Turkey, and we did a lot of good kilometers in the last 14 days. We’ll finalize this training period with the race on Cyprus, we’ll also get a confirmation of where we belong and how much we did over the winter. This is also perfect opportunity to get into racing rhythm before the next races in Croatia.”

Aljaž Jarc, new member of the team: “Times flies and we’re already ahead of the first race of the season! Guys did a very good job in Turkey, I had to stay back home and finish my school obligations. I was training regardless, but I’m glad I’m now on the way to sunny Cyprus; that is much better than training in snow. This will be my first race in the elite category and I will do my best to help my team and help get some great results. Keep your fingers crossed!”

Sports Director Srečko Glivar: “There is always some nervousness ahead of the first race, nobody really knows how well prepared we are. Riders did a good job and are all in good health. They also did good on the performance tests, but the race will really show where we belong. We all know about the political conflicts in the North Cyprus, they are the reason why the race is not listed in the UCI calendar. But there are always a lot of foreign teams on the race, many of them are training in this part of Europe. This race is perfect for me, a great opportunity to work with riders ahead of the races in Istria.”
