Second stage of International Tour of North Cycling was 187 km long, but team Adria Mobil Cycling is well prepared in the beginning of the season and had the race under control. Main goal was to defend leader’s jersey, but on the end the team was again in the battle for victory!

Team Adria Mobil Cycling was in the front row of peloton for the biggest part of second day of racing on Cyprus. Team had only one mission – to defend the yellow jersey of the race leader, and in fact the jersey was in a safe place throughout the day. Finish of the race was much more exciting and team riders were again in the fight for stage victory.

All Adria Mobil’s cyclists were in the group that came to the last kilometers first, and Dušan Rajović was the one that was almost fast enough for the stage victory, but he had to settle for second.

Jon Božič is still in the yellow jersey, Gašper Katrašnik was fourth today and is still leading the points competition.

Third and last stage is a criterium race on the streets of Lefkosa, but Jon is basically already a winner of the race. The stage is dangerous and will not count for the overall rankings, but we’ll get a fight for stage winner and time bonuses.

Jon Božič: “Guys did a really fantastic job today, they had the race under control from the start to the finish. We wanted to control the race, but if there is going to be an escape, we didn’t want to let more than five riders to escape. Escapees were on the safe distance od couple of minutes all the time, Gašper and I were all the time in our overall positions. We controlled the race, but with 40 km to go team Torku took the lead and we all thought they want to bring riders together for a sprint finish. But in fact they were preparing attack of their rider that sits in third overall. He attacked on the last mountain finish on the 167th kilometer. We stayed focused and increased the pace and neutralized the attack. After that we kept the pace to the finish line and prepare the terrain for Gašper and Dušan, who both did a fantastic job!”
