Golčer sixth in Istrian winter

Golčer sixth in Istrian winter
Italian Paolo Totò won fourth edition of GP Laguna Poroč, the edition that will be remembered by severe weather conditions. Dušan Rajović, our favorite for the sprint had a puncture in the last part of the race, so Jure Golčer stepped up and made result of the day for Adria Mobil – he was sixth on the finish line in Zelena Laguna.

Race with the start and finish in Poreč in Croatian Istria was defined by weather conditions. It was raining all day long, with temperatures just above freezing. Yes, it’s still February, but we’re all still hoping for little bit warmer racing. Team Adria Mobil Cycling just came from training and racing in Turkey and Cyprus and had even bigger problems with adjustment to the conditions.

Our team was working hard to bring Dušan Rajović in a good position for the sprint finish, but he was all out of luck today. He got a puncture with 20 km to the finish and lost the contact with the leaders. Meanwhile a group of eight and later seven cyclists was formed, among them was also our Jure Golčer. He took solid sixth place on the end. Dušan was doing his best to get back in the race and came to the front of the big group that was one minute behind the leaders; he was 10th.

Italian Paolo Totò (Sangemini - MG.Kvis) won the race, Austrian Lukas Schlemmer (Team Felbermayr - Simplon Wels) and Italian Andrea Toniatti (Team Colpack) took second and third.

Jure Golčer: “This was unforgettable overture into the new season. We’re racing in really extreme conditions, in the rain and with temperatures around zero. I’m happy with my result, but we’re expecting more as a team. We simply had some bad luck, Dušan Rajović got a tire puncture in the crucial part of the race.”
