Grand Prix Adrie Mobil with strongest competition to date and new finish area

Grand Prix Adria Mobil is heading into 4th edition and has already become a real spring classic. Not as infamous as Tour of Flanders that will take place on the same day, but it still has a lot to offer – great organization, though course and very good international competition. Race will take place on the first day of April, but organizers already closed the entries a month ago, due to high interest they even had to decline five teams. Race course and competition was revealed today on the press conference in Adria Mobil’s headquarters in Novo mesto, Slovenia. Race director Bogdan Fink explained some of the details: “175 cyclists from 25 teams (and from 23 countries) will race on 4th edition of Grand Prix Adria Mobil. Cyclists will come from four continents, most of them of course from Austria, Italy and Slovenia. We’ll have maximum number of riders on the race, in line with the new UCI rules. Race is already well established and we’re not surprised that some many good continental teams & cyclists are coming to race in Slovenia. Both competition and course will be hard, but I would also like to stress new finish area on the Seidlova road in Novo mesto and interesting program for kids. They will be able to enter races or challenge themselves on obstacle course. It’s going to be an active day in Novo mesto for sure.”

Srečko Glivar, Adria Mobil Cycling’s sports director is the one that has a deep knowledge of the teams and cyclists: “The race got a very good reputation in only three years and this of course also means that the competition is getting stronger. We might see surprises from cyclists from Scandinavia or Great Britain, but we should also watch out for Colombian team Bicicletas Strongman. Their riders were already racing in Slovenia and they are always a force to be recon with. Of course we shouldn’t forget Austrian, Italian and Slovenian teams, all of them have very strong riders in their ranks.” Srečko Glivar will of course lead home team Adria Mobil Cycling on the race; the team already had a lot of success in the start of the season and is aiming for a strong performance on the home race.

Adria Mobil’s lineup for the race is not determent yet, but for sure Jani Brajkovič will be on the race. Jani returned to the team ahead of 2018 season, but got injured early on. He’s now back and read to race! This is what Jani said on the press conference: “Injury is rehabilitated and I’m back on my program. I’m having individual trainings, and this race will be a first chance to see how we’ll connect with the team. We have good sprinters, Dušan Rajović for example, but I’ll also try to attack the very top. Trophy in the shape of urn is a symbol of my home town Novo mesto, and I don’t have it yet in my showcase. It’s a trophy worth fighting for! Race course is very hard, easy on the level of the hardest one-day races of the highest classification, which is something that I like. But the cyclists make the race and there are still a lot of unknowns as far as competition is concerned.”

Club president Mojca Novak praised sponsors for their continuous support and stressed the double role of the club: “Racing part remains ‘core business’ of cycling club Adria Mobil. Refreshed team is very strong, a mix of youth strength and experienced riders that can always help in the battle for the best results. But very important is also the organization of the races, a lot of energy and effort goes in this area. This is how we can organize events on the highest level and also get attendance of the biggest teams.” Many strong continental and national teams will race on Grand Prix Adria Mobil next Sunday, but the world’s elite will arrive to Slovenia for the 25th edition of Tour of Slovenia that is also organized by Adria Mobil.
