Brajkovič so close but so far at the same time

Brajkovič so close but so far at the same time
What seemed like an easy stage was everything but easy. Many teams were aiming for a breakaway, when it was finally formed we had Jani Brajkovič in it. But just before he would make his move this happened…

Fourth stage of the Tour of Croatia had a perfect profile for a breakaway. This was in the plans of many teams and this is why the speed from the start was around 50 km/h. The breakaway was finally formed on the middle of the stage. Eight riders escaped, among them was also Jani Brajkovič. Group already had a gap of four minutes.

Jani wanted to attack on the last climb, but he got a flat and had to stop, so he was caught by the peloton.

Jani Brajkovič: “Breakaway was cooking for a very long time. When it was finally formed it was very hard to get along, but it was easier after. I’ve got a flat just before the start of the climb and that was it for me. But I’m glad that I’m in the better form and I already look forward to next stages and races.”

Rogina, Per, Golčer and Brajkovič came in the finish in the main group, 12 seconds behind the stage winner Alessandro Tonelli (Bardiani – CSF). Radoslav Rogina kept fourth place on the overall standings, Jon Božič in now third in the battle for the green jersey.
