Jon’s solo break on opening day of Qinghai Lake
Greek Georgios Bouglas is the winner of the first stage of Tour of Qinghai Lake, he was fastest in the sprint finish of the whole peloton. Hero of the day was Adria Mobil’s Jon Božič that was in the escape from the start of the day and was in the front for almost 100 kilometers.

First stage was just about sizing up the competition, as nobody except Jon Božič showed a lot of effort towards attacks. Teams were mostly counting on their sprinters, so did we with Serbian national champ Dušan Rajović. Team Adria took the front row about 4 kilometers before the finish line, 2 kilometers later French team Delko Marseille Provence KTM joined. But both teams left the stage a little bit disappointed, as Greek Georgios Bouglas (Ningxia Sports Lottery - Livall Cycling team) surprised everyone and took the victory.

Dušan Rajović had to settle for 9th.

Second stage will be a race around Xsining and again we expect a sprint.

Jon Božič: “First stage, first escape – right from the starting line. There were three of us in the break at the beginning, but one of the two riders didn’t want to change and they got into a fight. So they left me alone and I knew that I don’t have a chance against the peloton. I was trying to preserve my energy. I took first intermediate finish and got three seconds, I was later caught with 60 kilometers till the finish. I tried to help Dušan in the last kilometers, but I wasn’t strong enough. Race has just started and the results will came.”
