Aljaž Omrzel is stepping up to elite team
Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires are behind us. Slovenian team was very successful and is traveling back home with 11 medals. Cyclists Aljoša Omrzel and Anže Skok didn’t put the medal around their neck, but they represented Slovenian with great pride and got important experiences for their future cycling careers.

Adria Mobil’s Aljaž Omrzel gave us the report on the games and his plans for 2019: “Anže Skok and I were racing in pairs and took 13th place on final overall standings. We would need a little bit of luck and we could do much better in the road race and the time trial. Regardless this is great experience that will stay with me forever. Youth Olympic Games are one of a kind event where you meet lots of new people from different sports and countries. All of us on the Slovenian team got along great from day one and also spend most of the free time together.
This was my last race as a junior, and I’ll always have nice memories on this category. I’ll go to the elite team now, and I want to learn as much there and get experiences from older members of the team.
I want to take this opportunity to say thanks to all my teammates in Cycling club Adria Mobil, we had lots of great moments in the last four year and also thanks to them I could race in Argentina and advanced to elite ranks. I also want to thank my coach Josip Radakovič that believed in me, supported me and also took me back on the ground when that was necessary. Thank you all that stood beside me, I promise I’ll keep on trying.”
