Branko Filip is new Sports Director of team Adria Mobil

Branko Filip is new Sports Director of team Adria Mobil
New Sports Director of continental team Adria Mobil is Branko Filip, ex professional cyclist and later coach of junior cyclists and sports director of different international teams. He’s taking over Adria Mobil Cycling with high ambitions and will do more than just lead the elite men team.

Branko Filip won Tour of Slovenia in 1998 and took the national time-trial title one year later, which opened the doors to one of the biggest teams of that era. He came back to Slovenia though and in 2002 rode for “dream team” Perutnina Ptuj – Krka – Telekom Slovenije, before ending his racing career and started his coaching career. He’s in charge of club’s junior programs, later he worked in Qatar and Turkey. Team is getting new energy, knowledge and experiences with his return, everything he needs to lead a refreshed team towards future success.

Branko Filip: “I’m honored to lead Adria Mobil’s elite team. I was racing in all categories of this team and I know the values and responsibility that comes with Adria’s jersey on your shoulders. I was also working abroad – as a professional cyclists and a coach – where I got additional know-how and lots of friends.
One of my priorities upon coming back to Novo mesto is development on young riders, I want to better them to a point where they will be interesting for the biggest teams out there. Team Adria Mobil Cycling has to be in the very top of the European continental class and leading team in the region. I will give vast amount of stress to the training on the new track that we’ll have shortly.
Main ambition from the results standpoint is absolutely Tour of Slovenia. I think we’ll focus on the good stage results. The quality of the riders on this race is as good as it gets, so I’ll be happy with any stage podium or a top-ten result in the overall standings. I’ll meet all the riders next week on the first training camp, we’ll talk about team strategy and race plans there, but of course also about individual goals. We’ll have more team training sessions in the future, more stress on technical aspect of sprint finishes and time-trial. There are also some reinforcements coming to the team, we’ll tell more about it in the next days.
I would like to thank Mojca Novak, president of Cycling club Adria Mobil, and Bogdan Fink, club’s director, for the trust and this opportunity.”

Bogdan Fink, Adria Mobil Cycling’s director said: “We’re happy that Branko Filip joined our team for the upcoming season. He’s very experienced coach and on top of everything also a cyclist raised in Novo mesto. He also won Tour of Slovenia. In the past Branko was already in charge of our program for young cyclists, later he decided to get education on UCI. As a coach he worked on different continents, lastly in Turkey. He’ll be in charge of our elite men team in 2019 and also responsible for the coordination of all teams in the club. Important part of his work will take part on the new track in Novo mesto.”

Srečko Glivar, who lead the team in the past season, will continue his work in the club, but on different position. We would like to thank him for all of the effort in the season that was successful for the Adria Mobil’s cyclists.

Renovated track in Novo mesto was mentioned couple of times, this just shows how important this infrastructure is for the club and Slovenian cycling scene. Renovation is nearly complete, grand opening will be on 17th November.
