Marko Kump wins Slovenian season opener
Marko Kump won Granp Prix Slovenian Istria – opening race of the Slovenian cycling season, taking third victory for Adria Mobil Cycling in the six years long history of this race. Kump won in the sprint finish, Italians Paolo Totò Davide Gabburo crossed the finish line just behind him.

156 kilometers long race with start and finish in Izola on the Slovenian coast finished with the victory for Slovenian continental team Adria Mobil and its returning hero Marko Kump. Marko, aka Arrow from Dolenjska, left the team after the dream season of 2015 when he won 20 races. He’s now back in his home team and has started the season in his own way – with fantastic victory.

Competition on the race was hard, but Adria Mobil had it under control, especially in the last laps in city of Izola. This is how Marko saw the race: “We had one cyclist less on the race and we knew that other teams will attack, especially the team Neri Sottoli - Selle Italia - KTM was the one that we had to keep on our eyes all the time. We stayed on the side in the first big laps and on the climbs and let others to dictate the pace. But towards the end we came up in the front and took control of the race. Team did a superb job, the way they took me to the finish was like from the cycling textbooks.”

Marko Kump won ahead of Paolo Totò (Sangemini - Trevigiani - MG.Kvis) and Davide Gabburo (Neri Sottoli - Selle Italia - KTM).

After Jure Golčer’s victory in 2016 and Dušan Rajović’s victory last year this is third victory for Adria Mobil Cycling on this race!
