Adria Mobil’s tradition broken by Averin Maksym of Ukraine
Adria Mobil riders were dominating the last four editions of Poreč Trophy; the 2010 race winner was Blaž Jarc, Matej Gnezda celebrated in 2011 and Matej Mugerli followed with two consecutive wins. Today he was third.

Matej was not on top of the podium today, but a third place is still a great result! The race was decided with a big group sprint and Matej had to be very smart to get to the good position for the last meters. The race was 149 km long, with 7 laps around Croatian costal town of Poreč. Each lap also featured a hard climb to Tar, but that didn’t do a lot of selection today. Fastest in the sprint was Averin Maksym.

Matej Mugerli: “It was really crowdy towards the finish. Somehow me managed to regroup, guys helped me a lot, but just before the last corner riders from Azerbaijan team Baku passed by.”

Radoslav Rogina was also frustrated in the finish line: “Crazy race! I had to brake all the time and fight for the position throughout the race.”

Primož Roglič however took the biggest part of bad luck. He crashed 15 km to go, injured his head and had to be taken to the hospital. He will be OK, but team manager Boštjan Mervar is left without one more cyclist for a while; Tomaž Nose is also out due to the December car accident.

On Thursday Adria Mobil cycling team will start their first stage race of the season. Istrian Spring Tropy also takes place on the road of Croatian Istria.
