Elite team ahead of the most important part of the season

Sports Director Branko Filip has summarized everything that was happening in the first part of the season and introduced planes for future months: “I had split 2019 season in three racing periods. We did really good in the first part from February till April – we won both Slovenian UCI races and thanks to Marko Kump we also won on the race Belgrade – Banja Luka. Dušan Rajović won two stages on Rodos. Big success was also Dušan’s second place on Tour of Antalya where he was beaten by new cycling sensation Van der Poel. Marko Kump and Gašper Katrašnik were second and third on Tour of Ardennes. We have to give credits to the whole team for great performance in the sprints, they are protecting the leaders and then getting them in the good positions. I’m less satisfied with the outcome in the overall standings in the stage races, despite the fact that we’re focused on the stage finishes.
We only had one race in May. Gašper Katrašnik took 2nd and 4th on CCC Tour in Poland, Žiga Grošelj was 10th overall on that race. Last weeks were reserved for training and preparations for the middle part of the season with very hard schedule in June and July.
We’re ahead of very difficult month with Tour of Slovenia as our highlight. We aim for podium positions on the individual stages and top-10 result in the overall standings.
Team is well prepared, despite some bad luck with the weather in the recent weeks. Some of our athletes also did high-altitude training to help them improve on their performance.
The only cyclist that will not race in this period is Aljaž Omrzel, who is still recovering from the crash that took place when he’s racing for Slovenian national team in France. Hopefully he’ll back with us soon, he showed great progress in the opening races of the season and can do even better.”
