Rajović 12th on the last day of Tour of Slovakia

Last stage was 148 kilometers long and finished with the sprint finish and the “heavy weight” sprinters. Dušan’s 12th place in this competition is in fact a very good result, Serbia is also Adria Mobil’s highest ranked cyclist in the overall standings – he is 21st. Žiga Grošelj is right behind him.
We asked our sports director Branko Filip for the insights of the last stage and overall view on the race: “Last stage on the Tour of Slovakia was very active, with attacks from the beginning and very active performance of our cyclists. Six riders created the longest breakaway, among them was also our Aljaž Jarc. But the WorldTour teams had everything under control and they didn’t let the gap to increase to more than 1:40. Rider were caught more than 20 kilometers before the sprint finish.
In the last kilometers we had wind in the back and the road that was slightly descending, so everything went really fast. Some of the best sprinters out there were in the contest for the top spots, our Dušan Rajović did the best he could and pushed pedals as hard as possible, but his ratio 53-11 was not enough to go to very top. He still did good with 12th place.
Looking at our racing in Slovakia we can say we showed ourselves in a positive way, we looked for our opportunities and we learned something new. On the end we have cyclists in 21st and 22nd place, we would need a little bit of luck to get more against the WorldTour team, that are simply couple of steps ahead.”
Three Adria Mobil cyclists are now heading to the world championships in Yorkshire. David Per will represent Slovenia on the elite men race, while Aljaž Jarc and Žiga Horvat will face the competition in the U23 category.
