Marko Kump wins first stage of CRO Race

Marko Kump wins first stage of CRO Race
Adria Mobil is having a dream start of the new race CRO Race. Marko Kump won the first stage of the race, in total that is his seventh victory of the season. Marko is now in the leader’s jersey, while his teammate Dušan Rajović won the white jersey for the best young rider on the race. Second stage will take riders from Slunj to Zadar.

First stage of the newly formed Croatian tour has finished with sprint finish and fantastic victory of Adria Mobil’s Marko Kump. Sports director Branko Filip was the first who shared the excitement: “CRO Race is our last big goal of the season. We’ve prepared well for this race and looked closely at all stages – especially the first one as we knew this will be a big opportunity for us. Stage was pretty exciting, but we had everything under control. Team was fantastic today and fulfilled all of my expectations. I hope we’ll continue in the same manner.”

Marko Kump, stage winner and race leader: “Stage was more nervous as expected. Dušan Rajović covered  the first break and the team could rest. Team Bahrain Merida has later created a lot of excitement as they were pushing the harsh pace in the area with strong side wing and the peloton broke in several smaller groups. We’re at the front for the whole time, waiting for the difficult sprint. Team took myself and David Per to the front, but we started with the sprint a little bit too early and it came down to millimeters. I pulled as much as I could in the very end and that brought me victory today.”

Kump is the leader on the race and also in the points classifications; Rajović has the jersey of the best young cyclists on the race. This means we’ll have two Adria Mobil cyclists in the “jerseys” on the second stage.
