Adria Mobil Cycling started the season 2020 with a great result. Marko Kump was second on the 1st stage of UCI 2.1 Tour of Antalya, only behind Mihkel Raim. Tomorrow he will get another chance.

Adria Mobil Cycling started the season 2020 with a great result. Marko Kump was second on the 1st stage of UCI 2.1 Tour of Antalya, only behind Mihkel Raim. Tomorrow he will get another chance.

The race in Antalya hosts some very big names and teams, including WorldTour side Israel Start-Up Nation and Pro team Alpecin Fenix. But our cyclists came to Turkey with only one goal – to win, and Marko Kump was very close in the first stage. In the sprint he was a little bit too late, so he had to accept the second place, but he was nonetheless quite satisfied with his performance: »Our team worked perfectly today, we were a really strong unit. In the sprint, we were a bit too late, but this is our first race of the year, so we are still searching for the right positions. I think I can be very satisfied with my performance today.«

Last year, Dusan Rajovic finished second on stage 1, so Marko repeated his success from last year. Our DS Branko Filip was satisfied with how the team raced today: »In the first part of the race we controlled the pace because we did not want to let a big group go into the breakaway. We managed it perfectly and we caught them with 15 km to go. Before the stage we looked at the finish, so we knew where we needed to be, Marko and the team did everything right, but Mihkel Raim really is world-class, so we have nothing to be sorry about today.«

»Tomorrow the stage is pretty hard in the first part and then flat in the last 60 km, so I expect a sprint from the reduced bunch. It should suit us, we will get another chance,« Filip described tomorrow's stage.
