One day, two victories for Team Sky
Ben Swift of Team Sky is the winner of the 99 km long, opening stage of Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali. On Sunday the Brit was third on Milano – Sanremo, today he took his first victory of the season. Adria Mobil had three riders in the first group. Team Sky was also fastest on the second “semi-stage”, they were the fastest squad on the team time trial.

Almost 200 riders from 34 countries started this famous race, and the first selection was already done on the morning stage. The stage had two climbs and that reduced the main pack down to 56 riders, among them were also three Adria Mobil’s riders: Klemen Štimulak, Radoslav Rogina and Matej Mugerli. Matej was fastest with 19th place.

Team time trial followed in the afternoon, in a very unusual version. Each of the teams was split in half, so only 4 riders were together on the roads. Everybody expected Team Sky to win and they did. Team Adria Mobil II surprised in the hard weather conditions – men were 10th with gap of 26 seconds. Aljaž Hočevar, Domen Novak, Bruno Maltar and David Per were in that team. Adria Mobil I with Klemen Štimulak, Radoslav Rogina, Matej Mugerli and Kristjan Fajt was 31st with 58 seconds down on the winning time. There were 50 teams on the start list.

Ben Swift is the race leader, behind him are three other Sky riders. Three riders of team Adria Mobil are 1:04 down on the leader, meaning they can still fight for the top positions. Riders will have to deal with 162 km long, very hard stage tomorrow.
