Aljaž Hočevar 11th in Crevalcore

Today’s flat stage was defined by the group of eighteen riders that managed to escape from the peloton. However they were under control for the whole time, so they didn’t do a significant gap. Escapees were caught in the last lap and the group of 90 riders battled for the stage win. Elia Viviani of team Cannondale won the race – he also won second stage of Tour de Slovenie in 2011. Aljaž Hočevar found his way through the group and took a very solid eleventh place. Average speed of the stage was 48,659 km/h, which just shows how fast was today’s race.
Aljaž Hočevar: “It was a very fast stage. Wind made the race even stronger. Fajt and Mugerli were pulling me towards the end. Position in the last corner was very important today and I was in a good spot.”
Bruno Maltar and Domen Novak crashed, but that didn’t leave any consequences. Brit Peter Kennaugh from team Sky still leads the race, Matej Mugerli is 22nd. Team Adria Mobil Cycling is 5th on the team standings.
There is just one more stage on the schedule – 10 km long individual time trial from Pavullo to Castello di Montecuccolo. Adria Mobil has high hopes for their young riders that already performed great on the team time trial.
