Matej Mugerli 15th in Cologne
Irishman Sam Bennett won the 98th edition of Rund um Köln. Matej Mugerli of Adria Mobil Cycling was 15th on this extremely hard, 197 km long race.

193 riders from twenty-five teams entered the race in Germany. Only half of them made it to the finish line, which is a testimonial of how hard the race was. Team manager Boštjan Mervar: “The race was really hard, and it also rain. Course is very difficult – it leads through the narrow streets and over nine demanding mountain finishes. Matej Mugerli had a puncture in the worst possible situation, just when the group was split in half. We were a long way behind with our team car, so David Per gave his bike to Matej. Klemen Štimulak was on of the most aggressive riders in the last part of the race, he was involved in two escapes. Last time he was caught 6 km before the finish line. Leading group of 70 riders came to the finish. Irish Sam Bennett from team NetApp-Endura won the race ahead of Markus Barry and Gerald Ciolek. Matej Mugerli was in third position about 500 meters before the finish line and he had a good position for the final sprint. Final outcome is 15th place, which is still a good result.”

Adria Mobil’s most active rider Klemen Štimulak said: “I took off from the main group about 80 km till the end. We were caught 40 km later, but soon I was back in the escape. Team Belkin didn’t allow any surprises today and they lead the main pack. Finally they caught us just kilometers to the end.”
