Kristijan Fajt second on second stage

Kristijan Fajt second on second stage
Tour of Slovakia started yesterday with the first stage, today it was already time for the longest stage on this race. 200 km long stage didn’t cause problems to the trio Oleksandr Polivoda of Ukraine, Kristjan Fajt of Slovenia and Matija Kvasina of Croatia that crossed the finish line with 36-second gap ahead of the main group.

For Adria Mobil this is another important test ahead of Tour of Slovenia. Kristjan Fajt is one of the team’s most experienced riders and the one that joined an escape of three. The hardest stage of the race in Slovakia is on schedule tomorrow, and on that stage we will see if Fajt will be the leader of the Adria Mobil till the end. It is very possible that the race will be decided tomorrow.

Kristjan Fajt: “The stage was interesting and we were riding on the edge from start. As far as the team goes we did a brilliant job today and had the stage under the control. Pace was higher and higher and the attacks were becoming more treating. Fifteen of us escaped on a climb about 60 km till the finish, including Rogina and me. After we created a gap of about a minute, the concordance was gone. I attacked with about 45 km to go, and Croatian Kvasina was the only who followed. The terrain was hard, and the wind was not helping. Polivoda of Ukraine caught up with us about 15 km to go. It was a sprint finish, Ukrainian was faster. I didn’t manage to take the stage, but I felt that the legs were OK and I hope I will have a good race in the next days.”
