Matej Mugerli is Slovenian National Champion
Matej Mugerli (Adria Mobil Cycling) won the national title in the elite men category, ahead of Luka Mezgec (Giant-Shimano) and teammate Kristjan Fajt. U23 title also went to Adria, the race was won by Domen Novak. Road national championships was held in Gabrje for the sixth time, again in the organization of Cycling club Papež Podgorje.

Elite men did 15 laps in the total distance of 165 km. First breakaway happened very early, Matej Mohorič, Jan Tratnik, Matej Mugerli and Rok Korošec escaped in the very first lap. Luka Mezgec and Kristjan Fajt joined the company couple of laps later. The group was working together, they kept the pace very high and some of them managed to stay away from the main peloton all the way to the finish. The pace was so high that the breakaway group actually split in half with couple of laps to go. Matej Mugeli, Kristjan Fajt and Luka Mezgec were the ones that pushed the pedals on the limit, Matej Mohorič, Jan Tratnika and Rok Korošec were caught by the main group. Matej Mugerli attacked with one kilometer to go, the attack was strong enough for the victory on the race, with just meters of gap ahead of Mezgec and Fajt. This is first elite men road national title for Matej Mugerli!

The fastest in the Under 23 race finished the race couple of minutes later. Domen Novak won; he knows the course in Gabrje very well, last year he actually won the junior title on this venue.

Team manager Boštjan Mervar was very happy with the race outcome, the team won the prestigious title and lots of UCI points, so they are now were close to the norm that leads to the team race on the World Championships that will be held in September in Spain. After the race he said: “We were racing aggressively and brave, like on every race this season. We had a lot of bad luck many times in the season, but today everything came together and we took the top honor.”

Bruno Maltar and Radoslav Rogina also brought some UCI points for Adria Mobil. They won on the Croatian national championships in time trial and road race.

Adria Mobil also won one of the junior events in Gabrje, Mitja Zupančič was the fastest on the youth race.
