Double victory for Adria Mobil Cycling

Double victory for Adria Mobil Cycling
Our team had an excellent start of the first category race Sibiu Cycling Tour in Romania. Several elite teams are on the race, but that didn’t stop fighting spirits of our riders. Matej Mugerli started the race with seventh place on the prologue, while Radoslav Rogina and Primož Roglič took a double victory on the first stage.

First stage from Sibiu to Bâlea Lac was 162km long and finished with 22km long climb on the mountain pass with the height of 2,040 meters. Radoslav Rogina was first across the finish line, with the gap of 1:21 ahead of teammate Primož Roglič and Italian David Rebellin. Rogina is now in the yellow jersey, but it’s not the only jersey the team defends. Domen Novak was fastest among the young riders and holds the white jersey.

Team manager Boštjan Mervar said: “Today’s stage with the long final climb and finish on the high altitude was decisive for this race. Our plan was to bring Rogina and Roglič to the final climb with least possible effort, while the others covered the attacks. Group of nine riders escaped on 40th kilometer, in that group were also Štimulak and Fajt. Team CCC was leading the peloton and it caught the breakaway group before the final climb. Team CCC also lead the way in the climb, and a lot of riders were left behind; only about 30 riders stayed in the leading pack. Mugerli attacked first, but that was again part of the plan and just part of setting the stage for Radoslav. Rebelin was the one who answered to the Mugerli’s attack, Rogina followed and soon took the lead. At first he only had 20 seconds advantage, but his lead growth to over a minute. Roglič was riding with Rebelin and took 2nd place. Domen Novak also had a good race, he is now in the jersey of the best under 23 rider.”
