Radoslav Rogina stays in the lead after 2nd stage
Radoslav Rogina is a real fighter! He stays in the lead after the second stage of the Romanian race Sibiu Cycling Tour, despite all the attacks. The stage again finished on the top of the mountain pass, this time on Păltiniş (1,438 meters above sea level) – Rogina was fourth and kept the leader’s jersey. Primož Roglič was second for the second time in two days; in the overall standings he is now in second and leads the competition for best mountain cyclist.

Team manager Boštjan Mervar: “Branislav Samoilav (Team CCC) won the second stage, our Primož was second, Davide Rebelin was third. They were first across the finish line of this hard stage with 12 km long final climb; Radoslav was fourth. Three riders did a breakaway earlier in the stage, they managed to create a 6 minutes gap, then Androni Giocattoli raised the pace of the main group. The trio was caught 5 km till the finish line. Our team was dictating the pace of the main group towards the end, we only left riders with big gap in the overall standings to attack. Towards the end CCC took charge, their rider Brabislav Simoilav attacked 2 km till the finish line. Primož Roglič covered that attack and they finished the race together. Primož is now in second overall, with 15 seconds ahead of Rebelin; Primož now also leads the mountains classification. Domen Novak defended the jersey of best young riders, Radoslav Rogina is in the leader’s jersey. Race will finish on Sunday with morning time trial and 158 km road race in the afternoon.”
