Kristjan Fajt resigns with Adria Mobil

Kristjan Fajt resigns with Adria Mobil
Road World Championships finished on Sunday with the elite men’s race. Team Adria Mobil Cycling was in Ponferrada on the TTT race, five of the team’s riders were also racing on individual events. Jon Božič in Gorazd Per wore the Slovenian jersey on the junior’s race, David Per in Domen Novak were in the U23 team. Kristjan Fajt first rode the team time trial race and the biggest event of the champs – men’s road race.

Adria Mobil’s riders didn’t achieve a superb result on the championships. Kristjan Fajt was a member of the Slovenian national team on the road race, and his job was to take care of Luka Mezgec. The task, assigned by sports director Gorazd Štangelj, was not easy, so he can be proud on his 72nd place. Because he is such a great helper and also takes the role of a leader, he is such a valuable member of the Adria Mobil team. Fajtt is one of the team’s pillars and it is hard to imagine this squad without him. After the championships he was the first to resign with Adria Mobil Cycling.

Kristjan Fajt: “It was a very hard race, with almost constant rain and hard configuration. My job was hard, but I was glad to do it. I was looking out for Mezgec, but he didn’t manage to keep up with the attacks of the Italian team and fell behind on the 180th kilometer. After the race he was happy with my work, which I will take as a compliment. He also said that he would like a rider like myself in his own team. But signing for a Pro Tour team is an unrealistic wish for me, so I was very happy to resign with Adria for one more year. I feel great here, we have good conditions for racing and we can enter a lot of very good events. I can relax now in peace and prepare for the new season. I know how hard it is to sign a good contract these days and I would like to thank team management for the trust they have in me. I promise I will do my best also in the future and justify team’s trust in me.”

Adria Mobil also had two of their riders in the Under 23 race. Team manager Boštjan Mervar was the one who commentated on their race: “Both our riders on this race just came from the juniors and this was a big step for them. At the same time we know that they have three more chances to race in the U23 category. They gained experiences that will come very helpful in the future years. Domen Novak is developing in a very good cyclist, while David Per will have to change certain things and follow the coach’s instructions more strictly.”
