Team will start the season in Persian Gulf
Adria Mobil Cycling team has accepted the invitation of the Qatar’s cycling federation for the second time in a row and will race on Tour of Al Zubarah next week. The 4-stage race will serve as part of the training for the upcoming season and diversification of the winter preparations.

Race will start with 3,9km long time-trial in Aspire Center in Doha, on Wednesday 17th December. Other flat stages will take rider all across the Qatar, and like usual the biggest problem will be side wind.

Team manager Boštjan Mervar: “The race takes place very early in the season, too early according to our plan, but we didn’t want to miss this opportunity. We will have Radoslav Rogina, Primož Roglič, Klemen Štimulak, David Per and Domen Novak on the race. Unfortunately we couldn’t make a deal with Tinkoff-Saxo to let Marko Kump ride for Adria; he is still their member till the end of December.”

Yousif Mirza Banihammad from United Arab Emirates won the race in 2013. Kristjan Fajt was third and had this to say before he left for Qatar: “I’m traveling in better shape than I was last year, but like last year I don’t want to focus just on top results. I want to enjoy the sun, do a lot of quality kilometers in the warm weather and experience something new. If one of us gets a good result, then the whole trip will be just perfect.”

Klemen Štimulak is one of Adria’s hopes for a very high result: “My goal in Qatar is to do a good training in a warm environment. Weather at home was not very good, so I didn’t do so many kilometers on a bike and this can reflect on my performance there.”
