Primož Roglič third on the prologue

Primož Roglič third on the prologue
Tour of Al Zubarah officially started with a 3,9km long prologue in Aspire Center near Doha, Qatar. There are 16 teams on the race, most of them from Arabic countries. Adria Mobil came to this race as part of the preparations for the upcoming season.

Roman Van Uden from New Zealand was fastest on the prologue, ahead of last year’s winner Mohamed Mirza from UAE and, surprisingly, Adria Mobil’s Primož Roglič. He was just two seconds slower than the winner. David Per was also successful, he was fastest among the Under 23 riders. This is what they had to say after the race:

Primož Roglič: “I’m very happy with today’s performance. We are here to do a good training, but I don’t mind if we get some good results beside. Today’s result is beyond expectations, especially if I compare it with last year’s race. And the race is really starting tomorrow, so watch out…”

David Per: “I came here without any stress regarding results, but I liked the prologue from the first time we went to take a look at it. I went on 100% from start to finish and took the young rider leader’s jersey. I’m really happy about this and can’t wait for the rest of the race.”

Primož is strongest on the climbs, but there aren’t any in Qatar. Maybe David will the lead role in the following days, he is now the best young rider on the race. Tomorrow’s stage is 120km long.
