Business as usual in Croatian Istria
Adria Mobil’s Marko Kump took victory on the Poreč Trophy in Croatia, his second victory in a row. Again he was the fastest man in the sprint finish, this time se was faster than Slovakian Erik Baška (AWT-GreenWay) and Azerbaijanis Maksima Averina (Synergy Baku).

Race was defined by a very strong wind and almost 100 km long escape of 14 riders. Adria Mobil team didn’t worry too much about it, since the situation was well under control. Team’s Kristjan Fajt and Josip Rumac were among the escapees and they didn’t invest too much effort towards the success of the breakaway group. They know that they have the fastest man on the race in the peleton. The group managed to create a minute gap, but that was not enough; they were caught by the peloton about 40 km before the finish line. Team Adria Mobil took charge at that point and had a very strong pace till the finish, not letting anybody to escape. Marko Kump was protected by the very last part of the race and he just sprinted out to take another victory.

Marko Kump, today’s winner, after the race: “I have to admit that I had a very hard race today, mostly because I didn’t want to let my team down. Race was very hard due to the wind, but my team had the race under control at all times. The finish in Tar is new for me, so I was waiting till I saw the finish arch, then I pushed the pedals to the metal and won. I would like to thank my team for the excellent support!”

Team manager Boštjan Mervar was a little bit nervous before the start. Race delegates selected vehicle support numbers by drawing and Adria Mobil got number 35 out of 35. But you know the old wisdom… “the one that starts last will finish in first”.

On the end the race finished like the mechanic from team Tirol said: “If Kump gets to the sprint finish, it will be like cat playing with mice.”
