The day after…
Team Adria Mobil lost chances for overall victory yesterday, so disappointment followed in today’s fourth stage. Stage from Pula to Umag was won by Belgian Dimitri Claeys, one of the group of four escapees. Marko Kump was sixth.

It’s hard to concentrate after a chance like yesterday, when victory was in reach. Today it seemed like Adria has the race under control, but again a series of unpredictable events happened. The team riders were riding at their best. They did most of the work in the chase for four escaping riders, other teams didn’t do almost none of the work. Surprisingly, not even Polish team CCC worked in the chase – their rider Grega Bole had again a chance for a good result.

Marko Kump was not short on optimism, he told us about the team spirits: “Haha, I can’t really tell. The more they complain, the faster they are. Today they did a great job in the chase and it’s a shame that we didn’t catch them. Except for two Rusvelo riders nobody was helping us. But we weren’t the only ones having a hard they, it was not easy even for riders back in the peloton. In the start of the stage we came to a conflict with CCC, since we didn’t allowed an escape at that point. We will race the way we want to. It’s a shame that there aren’t any more stages with mountain finish, Roglič would once more attack and then everything would be at peace. On the other hand it’s true that we have a Polish team for Giro hear and some of them are so good that they can control the race on their own, especially Paterski. He really is a machine that never stops. I think we showed a lot on the Tour of Croatia and can look forward to the last stage.”

The optimism can be felt from Kump’s words and this is how it should be. Riders don’t have to feel sorry about anything, they are fighting till the end, but the luck was not on their side this time.
