Marko Kump is winner of first stage
Fourth edition of Tour d’Azerbaijan started today with a stage from Baku to Sumqayit – winner of the stage was no other than Adria Mobil’s Marko Kump. In a sprint finish he was faster than Italian Francesco Chicchi and Azerbaijani Maksym Averin. Marko Kump is also in the overall lead.

Marko Kump: "Today’s stage was flat, with some wind, but nothing to worry about. Štimulak in Rumac pulled the peloton for the whole day, so we had everything under control. I became nervous towards the end, guys helped me as much as it was possible. I wasn’t in perfect position for the sprint, but it was still good enough. We crossed the finish line in each of the laps, so I knew how I should attack. We did it!”

Stage reply will be on Eurosport 2 at 22:30.

Second stage will be harder – 186 km long with three mountain finishes. After the stage we will know if Marko is a contender for the overall victory.
