Fourth edition of Tour d’Azerbaijan finished today with the loops on the street of Baku. Overall champion of the race is Primož Roglič, Adria Mobil Cycling. Race was exciting all the way to the end, since Dutch Jasper Ockeloen attacked in the last lap and forced Roglič to defend leader’s jersey all the way to the finish. Russian Sergej Firsanov was the winner of the last stage.

For Primož Roglič this a result of his career, but he couldn’t have done it without his team. Primož was in great form already on the Tour of Croatia, but there it just didn’t work out. This time he rode without mistakes. On the end he had to work really hard to keep the minimal lead – other were attacking all the way to the end. Primož Roglič started his cycling career later than is usual and he already lost victories due to inexperience. After this race we can say that this is an experience cyclist that can win also a big event, maybe even the upcoming Tour of Slovenia.

Adria Mobil is celebrating 50th anniversary in these days. Roglič’s victory is nice introduction to the celebration that will reach its peak this Tuesday in Otočec and track in Novo mesto.

Team manager Boštjan Mervar gave the evaluated the race: “Before the today’s stage I was super nervous, now everything is super and the weight is off my shoulders! We rode from start to finish with full confidence, we knew that we have Primož Roglič and Marko Kump in great form. Every day we hat to start the hard work in the front row of the peloton, but the others joined in, they also had their reasons. After two stage victories we directed all of our forces towards the leader’s jersey and its defense. It wasn’t easy, especially not in the first 50 km before escapes shaped, and that worked in our favor. On the end Marko Kump kept the jersey of the best points rider, which is also nice success! This victory means a lot to us, also because we did a good promotion for the team and our main sponsor Adria Mobil Ltd.!”

Race winner Primož Roglič: “I don’t know what to say, I lost words. I would like to thanks to the whole team, that performed once more on the today’s stage and we all have reasons to be happy. Big thanks also to main sponsor Adria Mobil, that is celebrating 50th anniversary and because of that I devote my victory to it!”
