Two in a row for Marko Kump

Two in a row for Marko Kump
Adria Mobil Cycling is racing in Poland on the second category race Tour of Malopolska. Marko Kump is in the lead after stage two, he won first and second stage. He won the big group sprint in first stage and a sprint in the group of 23 escapees in the second stage.

Tour of Malopolska is the last race for Adria Mobil Cycling ahead of the upcoming Tour of Slovenia. If you only look at the results and see two victories for Marko Kump you might think this is an easier race with flat stages, but that is not the case. Race is being held in the most mountainous part of Poland, which makes the race really though. Marko Kump is in fantastic shape and was able to make it across all of the mountains, and that with the first group of riders. 31 riders left the race today, which is a good indicator of how hard this race is. Only 66 riders are left for the stage three, amongst them are all of the Adria’s cyclist.

Marko Kump: “First stage was pretty easy, but the racing became really hard on the second day. Guys had the stage under control and they managed to bring group of 23 riders to the finish. I was pretty tired by that time, but so were everybody else. As a team we worked hard for two days and we now have two victories to show. Third stage is again very hard, with lots of climbing, but we have more that 50 km from the last climb to the finish. I hope I will manage to get to the finish with the best… but I already know that I will suffer a lot!”

This is ninth victory from Marko Kump in this season and is now in fourth on the list of riders with most victories in the season; Alexander Kristoff of Norway is in the lead. Kump is also very close to third place.

Most victories of the season:
1.    Alexander Kristoff, Team Katusha - 17 victories
2.    Mark Cavendish, Etixx - Quick Step - 13 victories
3.    Cleb Ewan, Orica – GreenEDGE - 9 victories
4.    Marko Kump, Adria Mobil - 9 victories
