Radoslav Rogina seventh on second stage

Radoslav Rogina seventh on second stage
Second stage of Tour of Slovenia, the stage went from Škofja Loka to Kočevje, will be remembered by the escape of three riders and bad weather. At the finish in Kočevje we still didn’t get the answer who will take the overall title on the 22nd edition of the biggest Slovenian road race.

On the big surprise a big group came together to the finish, but Marko Kump unfortunately wasn’t part of it. Adria Mobil Cyclig is still happy with the outcome, the team had three favorites for the overall results in the first group.

Italian Pier Paolo De Negri won the stage, meaning that Italy took the 39th stage victory in the history of this race. Russian Artem Ovechkin (Rusvelo) defended the yellow jersey. Adria Mobil was very active on the stage – Klemen Štimulak was in the breakaway for most of the time, together with two more riders. They managed to create a decent gap of 3 minutes 40 seconds, but that was not enough for the final glory. Team Rusvelo was pushing the pace and didn’t let them to create more distance. Unfortunately the big wish of team manager Boštjan Mervar didn’t came true and Marko Kump didn’t “survive” the climb to Strma reber pass. He can still be happy with the outcome of the stage, they had Domen Novak, Primož Roglič and Radoslav Rogina in the first group. Rogina said: “Nobody showed his aces on the today’s stage. The climb to Strma reber was pretty calm; Roglič, Novak and myself were riding without any problems. I had a good position for the sprint, maybe good enough for the podium, but I got tangled with one of the riders and lost couple of places. Seventh place is still a decent result. I think many riders will go for the victory tomorrow, it is going to be a real “war” out there.”

Third and fourth stage will be broadcasted on Slovenian television Šport TV 2:
Saturday, 20th June: 15:00 – 17:30
Sunday, 21st June: 15:00 – 16:30
