Kump and Rogina ahead of 261 km of suffering

David Per and Josip Rumac will race the Under 23 race on Friday, Gorazd Per will look for his chance on Saturday’s junior race. Sunday is a traditional day for the elite man race – the race of the best road cyclists in the world. Adria’s Marko Kump and Radoslav Rogina will represent their own countries on this 261 kilometers long race. This is what they had to say before they left for the US.
Marko Kump: “It’s a great recognition and honor to be part of the Slovenian national team. I was waiting for the decision of Gorazd Štangelj for a long time, but that didn’t effect my performance, since I believed that I will be in the team. I’m well motivated and well prepared for this championships. I also realize that I will be up against much stronger competition than I was for the bigger part of the season. I also realize that this race is much longer than the usual races. Regardless, I will fight to the end and prove that the team selector made the right decision.”
Radoslav Rogina was less optimistic before traveling across the ocean: “World Championships race was not in my program and I didn’t had special preparations for this event. You have to be ready for the world champs and have to race similar races if you want to do good. I’ll be happy if I finish the race.”
Experiences are on Rogina’s side, since this is his eight World Championships race of his career. Marko Kump was racing just on, in 2012 in Valkenburg in the Netherlands.
Program:
25th September: road race – junior women and men under 23 (64,9 km / 162,2 km)
26th September: road race – junior men and women elite (129,6 km)
27th September: road race – men elite (261 km)
