Ski jumper is replaced by competitor in Nordic combination

Ski jumper is replaced by competitor in Nordic combination
Matej Drinovec from Strahije near Naklo is new member of the Adria Mobil Cycling. 24-years old athlete came to the team in a similar way than Primož Roglič. Ex competitor in Nordic combination will replace jumping and cross-country skies for the racing bicycle.

Primož Roglič went from ski-jumping to road cycling and had a very successful period in the Adria Mobil Cycling, and in a way this also paved the way for Matej Drinovec, who used to compete in Nordic combination. Adria had a lot of success with Primož, who finally transferred to a World Tour team Lotto-Jumbo.

Matej Drinovec signed the contract and said: »My sports path started 18 years ago when I joined Nordic & ski-jumping club in Tržič. At first I was only jumping, but when I was 13 I also started to do cross-country skiing. My youth was defined by Nordic combine, but I ultimately decided to finish that career – despite the fact that I had some good results and also competed in the world cup. My longest jump measured 139 meters. At the same time I managed to finish the study of physiotherapy, I only have to finish my thesis. I had a desire for cycling for a very long time and so I joined Cycling club Alpe in November 2014. I was racing on 41 events in the last season, biggest success was 2nd place on the Marathon Alpe. I started conversations with Adria Mobil in the summer and today we signed the contract. I realized that I'm again on the beginning of the path and I have to learn a lot, but I know I'll succeed with the help of the team. I want to thank management of Adria Mobil Cycling for this opportunity. See you on the races!«

Ten cyclist will race for Adria Mobil in the 2016 season. Team manager Boštjan Mervar will have to chance racing strategy a little bit, since the team didn't find a replacement for a sprinter Marko Kump that will race for the Italian team from now on.
2016 team: Radoslav Rogina, Kristjan Fajt, Jure Golčer, Domen Novak, Jon Božič, David Per, Gorazd Per, Gašper Katrašnik, Matej Mesojedec and Matej Drinovec.
