First big race for Matej Drinovc
Grand Prix Poreč is the first race of 2016 season for Adria Mobil Cycling riders. Though race in Croatian Istria will show how strong and harmonized the team is. The team faced a lot of changes ahead of the new season, also a new team structure.

Race on Sunday is very hard, 163 km long; the weather forecast is also not promising a lot. It’s almost certain that peloton will not ride to the finish in one group, which should suit Adria Mobil, since the team is without a strong sprinter after Marko Kump left the team. We’re also keen to see what will new team riders do. It’ll be very interesting to see how will Matej Drinovec do, this is his first race on such a high competitive level; since now he was racing Nordic combine.

Team manager Boštjan Mervar before the first race of the season: “There is always some nervousness among us before the first race since we don’t know how well prepared we are. We’re starting the season with very different lineup and because of that we’ll change our style of racing. We’re still favorites and as always we’ll go for the victory on Sunday.”

Jure Golčer is back in Adria Mobil jersey, he was racing for the team years ago: “I’m waiting start of the season with lots of excitement, despite the fact that I’m not the youngest rider out there. I’m happy with my performance, the winter went through without any injuries or illness. I don’t expect much from the first races of the season. But together we’ll do everything to warrant the trust in us and fight for highest places.”

Team captian Radoslav Rogina is also optimistic but careful ahead of the first races: “I personally don’t have high expectations for the first races, my goals are focused on later and this is how I train. I’m happy that the season will start and we’ll see what kind of team we have. I’m sure the guys are in good shape and we’ll have a good start of the season.”

Race will start on Sunday at 11 a.m. in Green Lagoon in Poreč, Croatia. Finish will be in the same place around 4 p.m.
