Ganna takes “Porec” ahead of Adria Mobil riders
Italian Filippo Ganna won 2nd Grand Prix Laguna Porec in Croatia. He was faster than Domen Novak and David Per, both Adria Mobil Cycling, in the final sprint. David was celebrating 21st birthday yesterday, meaning he almost got special double celebration.

Cyclist had no brake from race for the whole 163 kilometers of the race. Decisive moment happened about half an hour into the race, when a group of 14 riders escaped. They rode unanimously till city of Motovun, when Domen Novak took the lead and made the pace even harder. His teammate from Adria Mobil David Per was the only one that could follow him on top of the climb. Italian Filippo Ganna caught up with them couple of kilometers later. Ganna was a member of Lampre-Merida till last season and was fourth on both World and European Under 23 time-trial championships two years ago. Adria’s cyclist didn’t know how strong competitor is with them in the final part of the race. They made attacks against him in the last 20 kilometers, but nothing worked. On the end Ganna won ahead of David Per and Domen Novak.

Team manager Boštjan Mervar: “Today we rode without a mistake. Guys did everything we set to do. Italian was better on this very difficult race.”

David Per: “Domen started to pull away on the climb, and I whispered to him how strong he should go. I’s surprised that we came alone on top of the climb. Then Ganna joined us and we went all the way out till the end. We attacked alternately on the end, but he did not surrender. He was simply better in the finish and I can only congratulate to him. I’m happy with my form and I can’t wait for the next races.”
