Opening of the Slovenian racing season

Opening of the Slovenian racing season
Adria Mobil Cycling and all other Slovenian teams will race on the 3rd Grand Prix Izola this Sunday; Adria’s team will look for it’s first victory of the season. However winning this race is not easy, race is very hard and the competition is strong. Both previous winners, Italian Christian Delle Stelle and Austrian Gregor Mühlberger, signed for the professional teams after the season, which proves that only future champions win on this race.

Slovenian cycling federation reports that there will be 199 cyclist from 27 teams on the start of the race. Start will be at noon in Cankarjev drevored in Izola, finish will be in the same place about three and a half hours later, or better said – after 156,5 kilometers. Weather forecast is not promising a lot, riders could face heavy rain. Adria Mobil Cycling will enter the race with it’s strongest lineup: Radoslav Rogina, Jure Golče, Kristjan Fajt, David and Gorazd Per, Domen Novak, Gašper Katrašnik and Jon Božič.

Team manager Boštjan Mervar was short with his words: “We didn’t manage to win this race yet, it will be again very hard but we’ll give it everything.”

Kristjan Fajt will start his 2016 campaign with this race. He knows this roads better than anybody and is very optimistic ahead of the race: “I’m very happy with my winter training and my current form, and I think I’m in good shape for the new season. Others in the team are also on high level, and they proved that 14 days ago on the race in Croatia. Profile of the race in Izola is pretty demanding for the first race of the season, it’s also very technical race. But we riders make a race hard, not the profile. As always we’re all highly motivated. I hope the weather will hold and that we’ll keep a high pace but mostly that we’ll do good on the race.”
