Kristjan Fajt led for 100 km

Kristjan Fajt led for 100 km
Jure Golčer promised yesterday that team Adria Mobil will attack on the first stage of the Istrian Spring Tropy, that will unfold this weekend in Croatia. Attack happened, but the fighting riding of Kristjan Fajt didn’t bring results. Stage and the overall lead went to Austrian Markus Eibergger.

Two riders escaped soon after the start of 158 km long stage from Poreč to Labin: Kristjan Fajf from Adria Mobil and Romanian Daniel Crista. Their solo effort lasted for over 100 kilometers and they managed to get a five minutes gap, but that was not enough for the final triumph. Casualness of other team surprised, they were riding with quite easy pace and it looked like they are all waiting for the final climb to Labin. However peloton caught the two escapees and winner was decided in the sprint of the main group – just like every year on the stage to Labin. Austrian Markus Eibegger, winner of the last year’s race, won the stage. Adria’s best rider in the finish was Radoslav Rogina in 32nd. Kristjan Fajt won the mountain finish in Pazin and took the leader’s jersey in the mountains classifications.

Saturday will bring king’s stage with the finish on Motovun. Adria’s cyclists are not up in the front, but they are not far behind the fastest and the race is far from over.
