Chaotic TTT goes to Tinkoff
Conditions for the team time trial on the Tour of Croatia were very hard. Good legs were not enough to take victory today, riders also had to show lots of skills on the rainy and slippery roads. Russian team Tinkoff won the stage, while team Synergy Baku Cycling Project kept the leaders jersey on the shoulders of Matija Kvasina. Adria Mobil was ninth.

Fifth stage of the Tour of Croatia was team time trial. One of the most demanding disciplines in road cycling was even harder because of the slippery Istrian roads. There were moments that top stars of cycling looked almost funny when they were trying to stay on their bikes. Winner of the stage to Učka, Austrian Riccardo Zoidel also had big problems, he looked liked rookie in certain moments.


Team Adria Mobil Cycling showed solid performance and took ninth place. Team manager Boštjan Mervar: “I’m happy with the riding our team showed today. We had lots of information from the course. We knew it’s slippery and that there are many crashes. We choose the safe way and didn’t push it too much in the turns. This is maximum for our team. It’s going to be hard to change anything in the overall standings, but I know that teams CCC and Tinkoff won’t rest until the race is over.”

Adria’s Radoslav Rogina and Domen Novak are sitting in fifth and sixth place overall. Domen is also wearing the white jersey of the best under 23 rider. Sunday’s stage will lead the riders from Sveti Martin to Croatia’s capital Zagreb. Local rider is in the lead, and historic victory is in sights, but it’s not the end yet. Finish of the race will be very, very challenging.
