Adria Aims High on Tour of Austria

Adria Aims High on Tour of Austria
68th edition of Tour of Austria starts tomorrow, after many years again with Adria Mobil on start. Race has financial problems, for this reason it went from HC to 2.1 category. Rooster of teams on the start is not as glorious as it was in the past, but nevertheless we have strong teams and good riders on the start in Kitzbühel and we should have an interesting race ahead of us.

Race organizers are out of ideas that would attract attention of the public. Austrians have thought of very special prologue that will take place on top of Kitzbüheler Horn. Every cyclist will take a gondola ride to the top, did 700 meters long lap and go back down to the valley – again with gondola. Stage will be short, but very stressful for cyclists and team staff.

Tour of Austria will be very hard, like every year in the past. Cyclists will have to do 1.287 kilometers and just under 17.000 altitude meters.

Adria Mobil Cycling will start the race in good shape and with high goal. Team coach Boštjan Mervar was short with his words before the race: “We have a good team, we want a stage victory and one cyclists among top three overall.”

Mervar can count on experienced Jure Golčer that was already twice on the podium on this race – he was second in 2003 and third in 2007. He was 12th in 2015.

Team for Tour of Austria: Jure Golčer, Radoslav Rogina, Domen Novak, David Per, Jon Božič, Gašper Katrašnik and Gorazd Per.
