Can’t run without rice cake

Can’t run without rice cake
8th edition of Czech Cycling Tour started with team time-trial in city of Frydek Mistek. Team Cannondale-Drapac Pro Cycling was fastest on 17,3 km long stage. Adria Mobil – not racing with full lineup – was 16th.

We already reported about Domen Novak’s injury and that Adria Mobil will not race with full lineup. But that was not the last of the bad news. David Per got injured just a day before travel to Czech Republic and team manager Boštjan Mervar was left with only six riders for the race.

Team was sixteenth on the prologue time-trial, but the gap behind Cannondale-Drapac team was only minute and 20 seconds. This still gives hopes for good results on this hard race.

Gorazd Per, youngest riders in the team, was exhausted and fell behind his team mates with just kilometers to go. He followed them minute later and said in the finish area: “Our masseur Rok Novak is to blame, he didn’t make rice cake before the start… You can’t race this days without good slice of rice cake. ☺ I’s lacking the exact same amount of energy as one piece of cake would give me.”

Times do change. Sandi Papež and other couldn’t race without ham & eggs thirty or so years ago, now all WorldTour and continental team make the famous rice cake and every masseur keeps his recipe a secret.

As far as we know, Rok will do a very good job tomorrow and will please Gorazd Per and the others.
