Croatia–Slovenia 2016

Croatia–Slovenia 2016
Cycling club Adria Mobil organizes IX. Edition of Croatia–Slovenia, UCI 1.2 race that will be held this Sunday. First race happened in 2008 under the name Ljubljana–Zagreb. Name changed, but mission remains the same – race connects two friendly countries. We expect a record number of races, 23 have registered for the race.

Race will start in Zagreb on Sunday at 12:00. Peloton will arrive to Novo mesto after 105 kilometers, than it will do four more “Balkan laps”. It’s expected that riders will do first pass of the main square at 14:30.

Around 170 cyclists from 15 countries will be on the start. Most racers will arrive from Austria, Italy, Hungary and Slovenia. Winner of the race will be known after 4p.m.

Marko Kump, winner of the 2015 edition, will not defend his victory since his team Lampre-Merida isn’t allowed to race second category events. Italian Filippo Fortin is main favorite, he already won Grand Prix Adria Mobil earlier in the year and knows the finish very well.

Adria Mobil’s team manager Boštjan Mervar: “We’ll race with a very weak lineup since four of our riders are on Tour de l'Avenir. Domen Novak is also not race ready yet, but he’ll still start. This way we’ll be inside UCI rules. Nevertheless we’ll fight all the way to the end – only decent thing to do as a local club – and we’ll try to defend victory from last season.”
