German wins Race of Friendship
20-years old German Jannik Steimle won 9th edition of Croatia–Slovenia, a race that connects Zagreb and Novo mesto. It took him just above four hours to make it through 177,8 km long race, which means he finished with the fastest average speed in the history of the race. Adria Mobil’s best cyclist was Radoslav Rogina in ninth.

In nine years of this race Jannik Steimle is only second foreigner that won it. Only Austrian Riccardo Zoidl managed to do the same, and they all ride for same team - Felbermayr - Simplon Wels. Adria Mobil Cycling leads with five victories.

2016 edition will go down in history books as a very fast race from start to finish. Average speed after first hour was above 50 km/h, on the finish still above 44 km/h.

Teams were attacking from the start, but we saw first successful breakaway at Krško, when ten cyclists escaped. Adria’s Jon Božič was also among them – he returned from Tour de l'Avenir, where he raced for the Slovenian national team, just one night before the start. Ten riders were working together and managed to stay out in the lead all the way to the last lap in Novo mesto.

With 15 km to go another big breakaway happened, this time with 16 cyclists. Two of them managed to do another escape – German Jannik Steimle and Swiss Patrick Schelling (Patric was member of IAM Cycling till last season) – and finish the race six seconds ahead of others. Slovenian Žiga Grošelj from team Sava won the sprint of the group behind them. Adria Mobil’s best cyclist was Radoslav Rogina in ninth.

Team manager Boštjan Mervar: “Part of the team was on the race with Slovenian national team, so I can say we did a good job here. Guys were racing like we planed and they brought our best rider right now to the good position in the finish. Radoslav Roglina than did the best he could in this kind of finish of the race.”
