Short, but sweet

Short, but sweet
Organizers of Tour of Croatia had to shorten today’s second stage with the final climb to Sveti Jure – due to the snowfall on the top of the mountain. Radoslav Rogina said that 16 km shorter stage was “short, but sweet”. It was even sweeter for all Croatian fans – their fellow countryman Kristijan Đurasek (UAE Team Emirates) won!

Kristijan Đurasek used to race for Adria Mobil Cycling, and today he was the strongest on the shorten climb to Sveti Jure. He was up in the front for the last 15 km where he defended all attacks, including the one from Vincenzo Nibali who attacked two kilometers till the finish line. Kristijan attacked with just 200 meters to go, he won the stage and is now also in the leader’s jersey.

Adria Mobil’s best cyclist was Radoslav Rogina in 20th place, he was 37 seconds behind the winner. Radoslav after the race: “It was short, but sweet. I think I can be happy with my race, a week ago I wasn’t sure if I can do this. My form was not the best. I got additional boost of motivation and I hope I’ll do even better on the hardest stage with the finish on Učka.”

Coach Boštjan Mervar said: “Last climb was not as steep as I expected. Radoslav did good and was right behind the fastest. I’m less satisfied with Jure Golčer’s performance, he was to far behind. Race is far from over and I hope we’ll do better in the next days and on the decisive stage on Saturday.”

Longest stage is ahead of the riders, they will do 237 km from Imotsko to Zadar tomorrow.
